17 Jun

PCWorld.com reported that Dell has begun offering preconfingred servers, storage modules and software for customers who want to get things up and running more quickly than with custom orders.

Announcement of variety of business-centric products and services by  Dell on June 17 covers: primarily servers and consulting offerings designed to make the creation of data centers, and the implementation of virtualization, a more efficient task for the enterprise and SMBs alike.

Praveen Asthana, Dell’s director of enterprise storage says:

Now we’re saying you can be up and running in 30 minutes, not in a week.

He said it’s a good option for small- and- midsize businesses without expertise in server deployment. Channel Web calls it a comprehensive virtualization portfolio based on Dell’s acquisition of EqualLogic, one that will bring down the level of complexity and cost for smaller companies.

The new storage array, the PS4000, also could be attractive to larger organizations looking to implement a larger number of small SANs, according to Search Storage.
